Required Minimum Quals:
Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of related experience; OR a Master’s degree and 1 year of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in mechanical or industrial engineering or industrial, manufacturing or mechanical technology or related discipline
Strong machining skills (design & fabrication)
Experience in machine shop or manufacturing environment
Experience in a supervisory or instruction role in a machine shop, lab, manufacturing or academic institution environment

Job Description:
The Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering (IMSE) at Iowa State University is accepting applications for a teaching laboratory coordinator.

This position is responsible for preparing laboratories and materials for core undergraduate courses, developing standard operating procedures, enforcing safety and assisting with the development of students in hands-on manufacturing courses. Additional duties will include configuring laboratory space and equipment, designing and building fixtures and equipment for lab activities, and maintaining the necessary laboratory equipment and supplies.

The successful candidate should possess strong manual machine shop design and fabrication skills, in addition to effective management and organizational skills, the ability to work well with a diverse population, and the ability to communicate effectively. All staff members are expected to interact collegially and maintain the highest standards of integrity and ethical behavior.

Postdoctoral Research Associate Position

The Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering (IMSE) at Iowa State University invites applications for qualified postdoctoral research associate position(s) in the broad area of industrial and manufacturing systems engineering.  Candidates with expertise in Data Science (machine learning and big data analytics), Advanced Manufacturing (process control/optimization and light-matter interaction/simulation), or Complex Cyberphysical Systems Engineering are preferred (are highly encouraged to apply).

Qualifications

  • An earned Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in proposal development.
  • Demonstrated experience in high impact scholarship.
  • Demonstrated experience in collaborative skills.

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral, in order to meet the needs of this position. The successful candidate will have the ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team of administrative staff and research professionals.

The duration of the position is expected to be one year and may be renewable based on performance and availability of funding.  The salary will be commensurate with the prior research experience of the applicant.  Successful applicants will be mentored for faculty careers. This position is available immediately.
