Dr. Ryan does research on decision-making over time under uncertainty. A choice has to be made now with limited information about its short- and long-term consequences, including futrure choices to which it will lead. Mathematical probability models help to discern the forest from the trees in applications such as capacity expansion, equipment replacement, energy system planning, and more.
