A multidisciplinary team of faculty (Sarah Ryan, IMSE; Dale Niederhauser, CTLT; Craig Olgilvie, Physics & Astronomy; John Jackman, IMSE) will study new methods for improving students' problem formulation skills. It is well established that correct problem formulation is a critical step (and usually the most challenging for students) in the problem solving process. The Problem Solving Learning Portal (PSLP) will be used to test and assess the effectiveness of scaffolding techniques.
